Personal Summary

With nearly twenty years of higher education executive leadership experience, I have primarily lead challenged institutions back into regulatory compliance, fiscal stability, and sound academic outcomes. My career has been exclusively in proprietary education where I have labored to serve non-traditional and underserved student populations. However, I am actively seeking to align with an institution that shares in my core values and transfer my private sector leadership skills to more traditional sectors of higher education.

I would be honored to engage with committees in order to enhance the candidacy dialogue of their respective searches. I believe I possess a unique executive leadership skillset that will not only enrich the search experience but enhance the right institution of higher education.  

Through effective servant leadership, I have a track record of empowering faculty, staff, and students to achieve critical goals including new student growth. Those who work for me can attest to extraordinary culture building and care for colleagues and students. I am experienced in creating and executing strategies that utilize the collective minds at all institutional levels to achieve innovation, growth, and quality outcomes. I have extensive experience collaborating with Advisory Boards, interfacing and influencing public officials, and community leaders. I also have effectively managed large annual budgets and skilled in achieving institutional financial goals.

President - West & Mid-Atlantic Group
Sep 2014 - DeVry University

While presiding over 14 university campus locations and 98-million-dollar budget, increased regional operating income margins by 12.8%. Improved student persistence by 8.9% achieving the highest rates in institutional recorded history. Providing strategic leadership and executive oversight of approximately 500 employees. Completed several successful turn-around strategies and transitioned challenged campuses through leadership restructure and campus model realignment. Improved colleague engagement by 22 basis points and returned region to enrollment growth for the first time in 11 years. Lead several successful accreditation visits with Higher Learning Commission. Interfaced with local, state, and federal officials on regulatory and legislative matters. As a senior member of the Executive Committee was responsible for supporting and managing a budget of several hundred million dollars and demonstrating care for the universities nearly 40,000 students. Achieved an “Exceeds Expectation” every year with the exception of year 1.

Jun 2007 - Aug 2014 AmeriTech College of Healthcare

Full executive oversight of institution reporting to Board of Directors and ceremonial CEO. Starting with one small medical assisting institute, built multi campus Nursing and Allied Health chain of colleges including the largest Proprietary Nursing College in the Mountain West Region.  Achieved and maintained 2nd highest NCLEX scores in the state for the final 5 years of tenure as executive leader. In partnership with the Director of Nursing lead the institution through a successful NLNAC grant of accreditation and later a reaffirmation. Successfully worked through numerous regulatory and financial challenges transforming the institution into a position of academic, fiscal and regulatory strength. The institution remains an academic and vocational stronghold in the region.

Lead traditional business to business training centers through transformation to accredited vocational colleges. Successfully lead system through initial accreditation process. Personally, managed admissions department in lieu of admissions director resulting in highest lead conversion & student enrollments in 5-year campus history. Multi-State operational leadership.

Presided over internationally recognized campus with full operational and budgetary oversight. Achieved highest enrollment in 20-year campus history. Lead campus through successful re-accreditation process and acquisition. Generally responsible for orchestrating the efforts of 7 departmental managers in the areas of recruiting, retention, student completion, career placement, and financial performance. Maintained lowest employee turnover rate in 7 years. Averaged 25% of student body relocating to the campus from out of state and internationally. Worked personally with international employers to place graduates.

Jan 2008 - Aug 2014 Utah Association of Private Sector Colleges & Universities

Elected by leaders of local Colleges and Universities to represent the interests of the Proprietary College Industry in the State of Utah. The UFHE has successfully interfaced with the State of Utah and has changed two laws unfavorable to proprietary education and preempted several others. Strengthened relationship with current Governor's Office, State Legislature, and Department of Licensure.
